Boilerplate Words is a word-puzzle game with six modes. Please read this before you rely on anything it does or shows.

Entertainment only

Boilerplate Words is a puzzle game made for entertainment. It is published by Boilerplate LLC, a private company. It is not gambling: it has no real-money play and no prizes, and nothing in it can be won, bought or exchanged for value. Its only purchase is an optional tip, which unlocks nothing. It does not offer advice of any kind, including about vocabulary, spelling or language learning.

Puzzles and play

• Word list. The App checks guesses and entries against a built-in word list compiled from third-party word-list sources (credited on the App’s Acknowledgments screen). That list may include words you do not expect, and may leave out words you think should count. Whether the App accepts or rejects a word is a statement about that list only, not an authority on correct spelling, standard usage, or any dictionary. We try to keep the list free of slurs and offensive terms, including through a hand-reviewed blocklist, but that filtering is done on a best-efforts basis and is not guaranteed to catch every word some players may find objectionable.
• Difficulty. Puzzles vary in difficulty across the App’s six modes. Hints, undo and shuffle, where a mode offers them, are conveniences and not a promise that you will finish a given puzzle.
• Statistics. Scores, times and statistics are kept on your device for your own interest and can be reset or lost.
• Not affiliated. Some of the App’s modes have rules similar to other well-known word games. The App is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any other word game, puzzle, publisher or brand.

Your progress

Your levels, statistics and saved games, for each mode, live on your device. They can be lost if you delete the App, reset or lose your device, or if a backup or sync fails. Optional iCloud sync and Android’s Google backup are run by Apple and Google, and we cannot promise that they work or that anything will be restored.

Playing comfortably

Take breaks, and stop if you feel eye strain, discomfort or fatigue. The App is not a medical, therapeutic or educational product and makes no health or learning claims.

No liability

The App is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Boilerplate LLC is not responsible for errors, interruptions or loss of progress. To the fullest extent the law allows, neither Boilerplate LLC nor its partners, employees or agents will be liable to you or anyone else for any loss arising from your use of the App, including any consequential, special or similar damages, even if we were told they were possible. The App can change at any time without notice.

Analytics and crash reporting

The App sends usage analytics and crash reports to Google through Firebase, and you can switch each off in Settings. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Advertising

The App shows no ads. Its only purchase is an optional tip in Settings, which unlocks nothing (see the Terms). If that changes, we will update the Terms and the Privacy Policy first.

Reporting a problem

If something in the App looks wrong — including a word the App accepted or rejected — tell us through the support page or at support@boiler-plate.com. Say what you were doing and what happened, and include your device and the app version if you can.
