What Boilerplate Words is

Boilerplate Words is a free, offline word-puzzle game with six modes. There is no account, no ads, and no network connection required to play. An optional tip in Settings, handled by the App Store or Google Play, is the only thing the app ever asks you to pay for.

• Wheel Fill in a crossword using the letters on a wheel, with bonus words along the way.
• Letter Grid Find words by connecting letters on a board.
• Word Search Find words hidden in a grid of letters.
• Five Letters Guess the five-letter word in six tries, with feedback after each guess.
• Letter Hive Build words from a honeycomb of letters.
• Word Tiles Spell words from a board of letters, each one good for a few more uses.

Common questions

My progress didn’t come back on my new device.

On iPhone and iPad, progress only moves to a new device if “Keep progress in iCloud” was turned on in Settings on the old device before you set up the new one. It’s off by default. On Android, this depends on your device’s own backup settings rather than anything in the app itself. There’s no account to sign back into, so without one of these, a fresh install starts fresh.

Do I have to pay anything, or watch ads?

No. The app is free, shows no ads, and every mode is fully playable without paying. The “Leave a tip” button in Settings is entirely optional and unlocks nothing — it’s just a way to say thanks.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. Boilerplate Words works fully offline; no network connection is ever required to play.

Can I make the text bigger?

Yes, two ways: Settings has its own “Text size” control in the app, and the app also scales with your device’s own text-size setting.

How do I reset my progress?

There’s no in-app reset button today. Deleting and reinstalling the app clears progress stored on that device, unless iCloud sync (see above) brings it back. If you’d like an in-app way to reset, let us know through the feedback form below.
